“Sometimes I wish it were easier for people to love, in general. You spend months, years, decades searching for the perfect person that you’ve crafted in your head and it kills you, to think that you’ll never find this person as each new person that comes into your life just ends up disappointing you, or messing up your life, or even breaking your heart. However, I was blessed to have met the most amazing person over a year ago. I fell in love with her immediately. She charmed me with her sincerity, her innocence, her beauty, and most importantly, I fell in love with her because she was the most grounded person I’ve met in a long, long time. She made me feel really comfortable around her, just a week into getting to know her, she made me feel like there was nothing I could possibly be afraid of, as long as I was with her. We shared the same interests, we played the same sport, she fit into my life perfectly. A couple of weeks into dating her and I felt like she was the one - my best friend and my soulmate. I felt like we didn’t even have to try at all to make our relationship work, everything just went right. We hardly fight - our biggest fight to date, strangely, was over who hogged the blankets at night. I have no worries, no doubts about loving her. I love us, and how good everything feels when she’s near. I just wish that we didn’t feel so guilty all the time. I wish I could bring her along to family dinners, to show her off to my family and tell them how amazing she is. I wish we didn’t have to wake up at specific times everyday just to leave the house without anyone noticing. I wish we didn’t have to live in fear everyday about what our family members would think of us if they found out. I know for sure it wouldn’t change a thing - I just wish we had a better solution to this than keeping silent.”
